Sicyon (ancient Sikyon) was an ancient Greek city-state located in the northern Peloponnese, historically situated between Corinth and Achaea. It was an established polis in the Archaic and Classical periods of ancient Greece.
Archaeological remains of the ancient settlement include traces of fortifications, an acropolis and other civic structures that reflect its role as a regional centre in antiquity. The city was noted in classical sources for its schools of painting and sculpture.
Sicyon’s political fortunes changed over time through alliances, local conflicts and incorporation into larger Hellenistic and Roman spheres of influence; it persisted as a named locality into later historical periods.
The ruins of Sicyon lie in the northern Peloponnese region of Greece, near the modern community of Sikyona and within easy reach of the Corinthian plain and the Gulf of Corinth.

The ancient site of Sicyon (Sikyon) lies in the northern Peloponnese near modern Kiato/Corinth. The nearest rail access is Kiato station (served by suburban/InterCity services from Athens); from Kiato or Corinth the site is reached by a short local taxi ride or a brief drive along the coastal/local roads. If driving from Athens, follow the A8/E94/Corinth motorway west toward the northern Peloponnese and exit for Kiato/Corinth then local roads to the site.
