The Shekerley Mountains on Antigua include the island’s high ground-Mount Obama (formerly Boggy Peak)-popular for day hikes, coastal panoramas and walks through scrub and small forest patches above the shoreline.
The Shekerley Mountains (Shekerley Hills) are a compact range of volcanic-origin hills along the southern shore of Antigua in Saint Mary parish, notable for their steep slopes and coastal cliffs. Their highest point is Boggy Peak, at about 402 metres.
The range is the remnant of Antigua’s volcanic geology and has been a local landmark throughout the island’s settlement. The principal peak was officially renamed Mount Obama in 2009.
The Shekerley Mountains sit along Antigua’s southern coast in Saint Mary parish, forming a natural ridge between coastal settlements and the interior of the island.
