Shanghai World Financial Center
Building Iconic skyscraper featuring skybridge and panoramic observatory
At over 492 metres, the Shanghai World Financial Center’s trapezoid aperture frames city views; visitors ride to high observation decks and restaurants in Lujiazui for skyline photography and architecture tours.
The Shanghai World Financial Center is a supertall skyscraper in the Lujiazui financial district of Pudong, completed in 2008 and rising to about 492 metres with 101 floors. It is a mixed-use tower housing offices, observation decks and hospitality facilities.
High-level observation areas near the top provide expansive views across Shanghai and the Huangpu River, and the building’s distinctive trapezoid aperture at the crown is an architectural feature. The tower is part of the cluster of major Pudong skyscrapers alongside the Jin Mao Tower and Shanghai Tower.
Construction spanned the late 1990s and 2000s and the completed building opened in 2008 to become one of Shanghai’s tallest commercial towers. It has been used primarily for offices and public viewing since opening.
The tower stands in central Pudong adjacent to Century Avenue and Lujiazui transport links, within walking distance of riverfront points opposite the Bund.
- Observation decks: Observation platforms on the upper floors give high-level panoramic views of Shanghai and are popular at sunset for skyline views of the Bund and Pudong cluster.
