Shakarparian is a hill ridge and public park in the Islamabad Capital Territory of Pakistan, forming part of the green corridor between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. It is best known as the site of the Pakistan Monument, completed in 2007, and functions as a civic and ceremonial landscape.
The park contains formal terraces, lawns and paved viewpoints that look across Rawal Lake and the city. The main built highlight is the Pakistan Monument with its surrounding terraces and a small museum beneath the monument; the parkland also provides open space used for public gatherings and national ceremonies.
Shakarparian was developed as part of the Islamabad area during the city’s 20th century planning and has since been shaped to include commemorative structures and public park facilities. The Pakistan Monument was added on the ridge and opened in 2007, after which the site became a regular destination for visitors and official events.
Geographically it sits on a low ridge north of central Islamabad, overlooking Rawal Lake and the residential sectors of the capital. The site lies within the Islamabad Capital Territory, immediately adjacent to the urban limits toward Rawalpindi.
- Best viewpoints: The monument terraces are among the park's best viewpoints for sunrise and late-afternoon light, with clear views across Rawal Lake and the city grid of Islamabad.
- Access and layout: Access is by road from central Islamabad; parking and short walks connect the monument and museum to the wider parkland.
