Selge is an ancient classical city site in Antalya Province in southwestern Turkey, located on the southern slopes of the Taurus Mountains. The site contains surviving Greco-Roman and Hellenistic-era ruins that illustrate its role as a regional urban center in antiquity.
Visitors find stone-built remains including a theatre, sections of defensive walls and scattered urban foundations, set on a steep, forested hillside which provides broad views over the surrounding valleys. The layout and monumental stone works reflect Hellenistic and Roman urban design.
Selge developed in the Hellenistic period and continued as an inhabited city through the Roman era, with evidence of civic architecture and fortifications from those periods. It was part of the broader network of Pisidian and Pamphylian cities in antiquity and minted its own coins.
The archaeological remains sit in Antalya Province in southwestern Turkey, in the Taurus Mountain foothills; the site is inland from the Mediterranean coast and approached via rural mountain roads.
