Seebuck developed as part of the Feldberg tourist area during the 20th century when trails and lift infrastructure were installed to serve skiers and hikers. The site remains managed for both recreation and conservation of the surrounding high-mountain heath and forest.
Located directly adjacent to the main Feldberg summit in the southern Black Forest, Seebuck lies within Baden-Württemberg and forms part of the higher central ridge of the region. The nearest inhabited towns and trailheads are on the Feldberg plateau and in the valleys below.
