Seal Bay Conservation Park

Seal Bay Conservation Park is a protected coastal reserve on the south coast of Kangaroo Island in South Australia that conserves a breeding colony of Australian sea lions. The park is managed for both conservation and regulated wildlife viewing.

The site offers interpretive facilities and elevated boardwalks that provide close but controlled views of the sea lion colony and the beach where animals haul out. Guided beach walks led by park staff allow visitors to go down onto the sand near the colony under supervision.

The area has been managed as a protected reserve to conserve the local sea lion population and their habitat; ongoing park management focuses on species protection and visitor education. South Australian park authorities run the visitor programs and conservation work.

The park sits on the southern shore of Kangaroo Island off the coast of South Australia and is reached from the island’s main settlements and ferry access points. It occupies a coastal stretch with dunes, beach and coastal scrub.
