Schermützelsee Lake

Schermützelsee is a freshwater lake in Brandenburg, located within the hilly Märkische Schweiz region near the town of Buckow. It is a local recreation and bathing lake for the surrounding communities.

Shoreline paths, bathing spots and a small town waterfront characterize the lake; visitors use the area for swimming, short walks and summer relaxation rather than large-scale tourism. Facilities are village-scale and oriented to day visits.

The lake has long been used by local communities for recreation and tourism since the 19th and 20th centuries, when the surrounding Märkische Schweiz became popular as a rural leisure destination. Development has remained low-density to preserve the natural character.

Schermützelsee sits in eastern Brandenburg’s Märkische Schweiz, surrounded by wooded hills and agricultural land, with the town of Buckow on its shore and regional road links to nearby towns and Berlin.
