Visitors can walk short trails that pass restored stone terraces, small springs and ancient agricultural remains, and the area is noted for its spring flowers and seasonally attractive scenery. The site is used for day hikes and educational visits about traditional hill agriculture.
Archaeological and landscape features show that the area was cultivated in antiquity and in later periods; terraces and water-management features were adapted over many centuries to support local farming on the hillside. In modern times parts of the terraces have been restored for demonstration and conservation.
Sataf sits on the western outskirts of Jerusalem’s built-up area, above the Ein Karem valley and roughly 10 kilometres west of central Jerusalem, accessible by road and by short local walks from nearby parking and trailheads.
