San Bernardo alle Terme

San Bernardo alle Terme is a small church in Rome built within the remains of the Baths of Diocletian. It dates to the late Renaissance/early Baroque period and is notable for its circular plan.

The interior shows a ring of ancient columns and a domed space that echoes Roman imperial architecture, giving the church a compact, classical interior character. It is often visited together with nearby major sites such as the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli and the Roman baths ruins.

The church was erected in the post-medieval period using materials from the adjacent ancient baths; its design adopts a centralized plan within the surviving Roman fabric. Over the centuries it served various religious communities and underwent restoration work typical of Roman churches of its era.

It stands next to the ruins of the Baths of Diocletian in Rome, near Termini station in the Lazio region, placing it in the northeastern sector of Rome’s historic core.
