Samarskaya Luka National Park is a protected area in Samara Oblast that conserves the large meander of the Volga River known locally as the Samara Bend. The park includes the forested and rocky ridges of the Zhiguli hills and a mosaic of steppe, forest and riverbank habitats.
The park is used for outdoor recreation including hiking, birdwatching and river-based activities, with trails and lookout points across the hillside escarpments. Natural highlights include river cliffs, mixed deciduous forest and steppe patches that support regional biodiversity.
The protected area was created to conserve the distinctive geology and ecosystems of the Volga bend and the Zhiguli hills; it has been managed as a national park-level reserve to combine nature protection with regulated public access. Over time land-use within the bend has been adjusted to balance conservation and local recreation.
The park sits in central European Russia within Samara Oblast on a pronounced loop of the Volga River, west of the city of Samara. The landscape is dominated by the Zhiguli ridge rising above the river valley.
