Sam Tung Uk Museum

Sam Tung Uk Museum is a preserved Hakka walled village and local history museum in Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong, showcasing traditional clan-based rural architecture and domestic life. The site retains the village’s central courtyard layout, ancestral hall and rows of houses, with interior rooms adapted for exhibits.

Exhibition areas display farming implements, household items and information about the Chan clan who established the settlement, offering a compact interpretation of 18th and 19th century rural life in the New Territories. The museum functions as both an architectural preservation project and an educational site about Hakka culture.

Located in the Tsuen Wan District of Hong Kong, the museum sits within an urbanised area near transport connections at Tsuen Wan and serves as a cultural historic island within a largely modern district.
