Salt Spring Island is an island in the Strait of Georgia and is the largest and most populous of the Southern Gulf Islands in British Columbia. It is known for its rural communities, artisan culture and local food producers.

Salt Spring Island (British Columbia) is reached by BC Ferries and other air/water services. Regular BC Ferries routes serve the island from Tsawwassen (Vancouver area) to Long Harbour and from Swartz Bay (near Victoria) to Fulford Harbour; both are drive-on car ferry routes and schedules vary seasonally. From either Salt Spring ferry terminal it is a short drive to Ganges (the island’s main town), typically 10-30 minutes depending on terminal and destination. The island is also served by private water taxis and floatplane services from Vancouver and Vancouver Island.

• If arriving by car, reserve BC Ferries sailings in advance during summer - the island has three main ferry links (Fulford-Swartz Bay, Long Harbour-Tsawwassen and Vesuvius-Crofton) so pick the terminal that best matches your origin to keep crossing times short.
