Salamajärvi National Park

Salamajärvi National Park is a protected area in central Finland that conserves a mix of ridges, heathland, forests and mires typical of the Finnish upland landscape. The park presents a compact wilderness experience with marked trails and remote scenery.

Outdoor activities focus on hiking, nature observation and in winter cross-country skiing on prepared or unprepared routes. The terrain includes rocky ridges and patches of open heath that offer local high points and panoramic views over forested valleys.

The park was established to protect representative inland Finnish landscapes and to provide recreational access through a network of trails and simple visitor facilities. It is managed under Finland’s national park system and is intended for low-impact use.

Geographically it lies in Central Ostrobothnia, inland from Finland’s western coast, and is accessed from regional roads and nearby small towns and villages.
