Saint-Henri is a neighborhood in the Le Sud-Ouest borough on the southwest side of the Island of Montreal. It is known for its industrial past and dense urban fabric.
The area combines residential streets, commercial corridors, and former industrial buildings that have been repurposed for shops, restaurants, and housing. The nearby Lachine Canal provides a waterside pathway and recreational space.
Saint-Henri developed in the 19th and early 20th centuries around factories, railways, and industry and was traditionally a working-class district. In recent decades parts of the neighborhood have undergone redevelopment and renovation while retaining industrial-era architecture.
Located on Montreal’s Island in the city’s southwest, Saint-Henri sits within the Le Sud-Ouest borough and is southwest of Montreal’s downtown core.
