How to Get to Saas-Grund#
Saas-Grund is reached by rail to Visp followed by the PostBus up the Saas valley, or by road from nearby airports. The Visp-PostBus connection is the most common public-transport route; driving is faster if you have luggage or arrive late.
Sion Airport (SIR) / Geneva Airport (GVA): Saas-Grund in the Saastal is most practically reached via Sion (closest) or Geneva for international flights. From Sion the road transfer to Saas-Grund by car or taxi takes roughly 45-60 minutes; taxi fares typically start around CHF 60-CHF 100. From Geneva expect a longer train+bus trip (approx. 2.5-3.5 hours) with train fares Geneva-Visp around CHF 30-CHF 60.
Zurich Airport (ZRH): Also an option but requires a longer rail journey to Visp then a PostBus; travel time will be several hours.
Train: The standard public-transport route is by SBB train to Visp (major valley hub) and then a PostBus up the Saastal valley. Trains to Visp connect from Geneva, Lausanne and Bern; Visp is about 1-2 hours from major western Swiss hubs.
Bus: From Visp take PostBus services toward Saas-Grund/Saas-Fee area; the bus ride from Visp to Saas-Grund is roughly 40-60 minutes and fares are typically CHF 5-CHF 15 depending on zones. PostBus is the regular link for visitors without a car.
