Rubihorn Mountain

Rubihorn is a mountain peak in the Bavarian Allgäu Alps, located in southern Bavaria near the town of Oberstdorf. It forms part of the rugged Alpine landscape of the Allgäu rather than a large, multi-summit massif.

Hiking routes lead to the summit across alpine pastures and rocky ground; the summit offers panoramic views over the Allgäu valleys and neighboring peaks such as the Nebelhorn. Routes vary in difficulty and some approach sections include steep or exposed scrambling, so hikers commonly use established trails from nearby valleys.

The peak is a natural feature without major historical monuments or buildings and has been used traditionally for alpine grazing and recreational mountaineering. There are no large visitor facilities on the summit.

The mountain sits in Bavaria near the southern Bavarian-Austrian border, within the Allgäu Alps and close to the resort town of Oberstdorf, which serves as the main access point for visits.

Nearest base towns are Oberstdorf and Fischen im Allgäu. From Oberstdorf, follow marked trails toward the Rubihorn ridge; local cable cars shorten approaches for higher-start options. Use regional bus services or drive on the B19/A7 then local roads to trailheads.
