Royal abbey of Fontevraud

The Royal Abbey of Fontevraud is a large medieval monastic complex in the village of Fontevraud-l’Abbaye in Pays de la Loire, France, founded in 1101 by Robert of Arbrissel. It is notable for its size, its double-monk-and-nun foundation and its role as a dynastic burial place for members of the Plantagenet house.
