Bucharest & the Wallachian Plain (Southern Romania)

April afternoons are often pleasantly warm on the plain and pale-green leaves return to the parks around the Palace of the Parliament. Showers become more frequent, sometimes heavy, and muddy patches appear on rural tracks if you venture to the plains outside the city. This is a busy local weekend period for families taking short trips; pack layers, a waterproof layer, and comfortable shoes for damp cobbled streets.

Black Sea Coast & Dobrogea (Constanța, Mamaia, Danube Delta)

April often delivers surprisingly pleasant days for walks along the Black Sea promenade and in the Danube Delta-migratory birds are active and reedbeds begin to green. Occasional rainy fronts pass quickly, and water levels rise giving rich birdlife viewing around Tulcea and Sulina. Visit with waterproof footwear for boats in the delta; early-season prices and fewer crowds make boat tours attractive.

Transylvania Plateau & the Apuseni (Sibiu, Cluj, Brașov outskirts, Sighișoara)

April shows the plateau greening fast - apple orchards around Sighișoara and gardens in Sibiu crowd with blossoms and the first migratory birds return.
