Rogie Falls
Waterfall Scenic waterfall and salmon-leaping river gorge
In the Scottish Highlands, Rogie Falls features a scenic cascade with timber footbridges and salmon pools; walkers visit for short, well-marked trails and seasonal salmon runs.
Rogie Falls is a waterfall on the Black Water (often called the River Blackwater) in Ross-shire, in the Scottish Highlands near the village of Contin. The site is known for a short, accessible trail from a car park leading to viewing platforms above and below the falls.
The falls are popular for watching salmon as they migrate and attempt to leap upstream during the late summer and autumn months. Paths and boardwalks make the main viewpoints reachable within a short walk from the parking area.
The location sits within commercial and mixed woodland typical of the Black Isle and the surrounding upland landscape of eastern Ross-shire, offering a compact natural attraction close to local roads.
- Best viewing: Short, waymarked trails and footbridges provide accessible viewpoints of the falls and of migrating or leaping salmon in season.
