Reting Monastery Religious Site

Reting Monastery is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery in central Tibet historically associated with the Reting incarnation lineage. It was founded in the 11th century and became an influential religious centre in its region.

The complex traditionally included an assembly hall, chapels and residential quarters for monks, and served as the seat for successive Reting incarnations who played religious and regional roles. The monastery was a centre for ritual activity and monastic education.

Over time the site suffered episodes of damage during 20th century political upheavals and has seen periods of repair and partial restoration. It continues to be recognised for its historical importance to Tibetan Buddhism and the Reting lineage.

The monastery is located in central Tibet, set within a valley landscape among other village settlements and monastic sites in the region.
