Built in the Soviet period and modernised in later decades, the stadium has been used continuously as Armenia’s principal sporting arena. It has been renamed at times to commemorate national figures and events.

How to Get to Republican Stadium #
Republican Stadium is in central Yerevan (within the city). The simplest ways to reach it are by taxi or by Yerevan municipal buses that serve the city center; from central Yerevan it’s a short drive or a brief city-bus ride. If you are arriving from Zvartnots Airport, a taxi into the city is the most direct option.

- If you're attending a match or event at Republican (Vazgen Sargsyan) Stadium, arrive at least 60-90 minutes before kick-off to clear ticket checks and security queues; gates and nearby streets get very congested close to start time.
- Public transport is usually faster than driving-allow extra time for traffic and limited parking in the Salt Lake/central Yerevan area on event days and follow official signage for spectator entrances to avoid long detours.
- If you want to see the venue without crowds, check the stadium's official schedule in advance; on non-event days access inside is restricted, so plan a visit around open events or authorized tours rather than assuming free entry.
