Reimersholme is a small island in Stockholm County, Sweden, within Stockholm Municipality. It is a primarily residential islet with parks and shoreline promenades close to central Stockholm.
The island is connected to the surrounding city by bridge and forms part of Stockholm’s inner-archipelago urban area. It lies near Södermalm and other central districts, making it accessible from the city centre.
Historically the islet developed with housing and recreational spaces during Stockholm’s expansion; today it functions largely as a residential neighbourhood with public green space.
Reimersholme is set in the waterways of central Stockholm and is part of the city’s cluster of small islands and islets, located just south of the main island of Södermalm.

How to Get to Reimersholme #
Reimersholme is a small island immediately west of Södermalm in central Stockholm and is reached on foot from the Hornstull area. Take the Stockholm Metro (T‑bana) to Hornstull (red line) and then walk across the short footbridges from Långholmen/Reimersholmsbron - roughly a 5-10 minute walk from Hornstull station.
You can also reach the area by local buses serving Hornstull or by bicycle along the island and bridge cycle routes from central Södermalm.
Tips for Visiting Reimersholme #
- Approach Reimersholme on foot from Södermalm (Hornstull area) - it's a short, pleasant walk or cycle across the bridge and is primarily a local residential/island park area rather than a major tourist site.
- Head for the waterfront path and small parks on the island for views back toward central Stockholm-many visitors miss these quiet vantage points while staying on the busier Södermalm side.
- If you plan photography or a relaxed visit, go in the early evening when locals are out and the light over the city is best; amenities are limited, so plan logistics in advance.
