How to Get to Redemption#

Redemption is reached via Argyle International Airport (SVD) with onward road or ferry links through Kingstown. There is no rail service; shared minibuses, taxis and ferries are the practical local options.

By Air

Argyle International Airport (SVD): The island’s main international gateway is Argyle International Airport (SVD), near Kingstown. Taxi or pre-booked transfer to parishes around the eastern coast (including Redemption) is the normal option - expect a 25-40 minute drive to towns in Saint Andrew Parish; typical metered taxi fares are in the range EC$40-60 (approx. USD 15-22).

(No other major airports): There are no other international airports on Saint Vincent; some visitors arrive by ferry from neighbouring Grenadine islands via Kingstown (see bus/ferry below).

By Train & Bus

Train: There are no rail services on Saint Vincent.

Bus / Minibus: The island is served by shared minibuses (route taxis) that operate from Kingstown bus stands and informal roadside stops. Journeys within the island are short - many runs are under 30-60 minutes - and fares are very low (typically a few East Caribbean dollars). Ferries to the Grenadines depart Kingstown’s ferry terminal; schedules and fares vary by operator and destination.

How to Get Around Redemption#

There’s no rail network; once you arrive at Argyle International Airport the most practical ways to reach Redemption are by taxi, pre-booked transfer or a short minibus ride via Kingstown. Ferries are essential for travel to the Grenadines.

  • Taxi / Transfer (EC$40-60) - Taxis and pre-booked transfers from Argyle are the most reliable way to reach small settlements around Saint Andrew Parish. Drivers will take luggage and can drop you close to local guesthouses; travel times to nearby villages are typically 25-40 minutes depending on exact location. Negotiate or confirm the fare before departure if the meter isn’t used.
  • Minibus (route taxi) (EC$1-3) - Shared minibuses are the cheapest way to get around the island and connect Kingstown with nearby parishes. They run frequently but on an informal timetable; expect multiple stops and standing room at busy times. Good for short hops, not ideal with heavy luggage.
  • Ferry - Ferries operate from Kingstown to the Grenadines and inter-island points. Ferries can be seasonal and schedules change, so check operators in advance. Ferries are the main way to reach outer islands; crossing times depend on destination.
  • Car hire - Car hire is available on St Vincent (pre-book or through the airport). Driving gives flexibility to reach remote bays and villages, but roads are often narrow and hilly. Insurance and local driving rules should be checked in advance.
  • Walking - Villages and small settlements are compact and easy to explore on foot once you arrive. Walking is the best way to access beaches and short local trails.
