The complex’s most striking feature is its forest of carved marble pillars - about 1,444 in the main structure - along with multiple domes and intricately sculpted ceilings. The main temple is dedicated to the Tirthankara Adinatha and includes multiple shrines and passageways.

Construction of the complex occurred in the 15th century under Jain patronage and local rulers of the period; the site has functioned continuously as a place of worship and pilgrimage since then. Restoration and conservation work have taken place periodically to preserve the marble carvings.
