Rakhigarhi Archaeological Site

Rakhigarhi is a major archaeological site of the Indus Valley Civilization in Haryana, India, noted for the size and complexity of its urban remains. Excavations have revealed planned settlement layouts, craft areas and burial contexts spanning Harappan cultural phases.

Archaeological work at the site has uncovered evidence of long-term urban occupation, craft production and burial practices that contribute to understanding Harappan urbanism. The site is significant for studies of population, trade and social organisation in Bronze Age South Asia.
