Queen Anne’s Summer Palace is a small Renaissance summerhouse in the Royal Garden of Prague Castle, built in the 16th century as a royal leisure pavilion. It is one of the few Renaissance buildings preserved within the Prague Castle complex.
The building is notable for its arcaded loggia and ornamental facade and is often visited as part of a route through the Royal Garden and castle precincts. Exhibitions are sometimes held inside the palace, and terraces offer views back across the castle grounds.
Construction dates place the palace in the mid-1500s and it was commissioned as a royal summer residence. Over subsequent centuries it has been used for various civic and cultural purposes and has undergone restorations to preserve its Renaissance features.
The palace stands within the Royal Garden immediately to the north of the main Prague Castle complex in central Prague, making it a short walk from St. Vitus Cathedral and the castle’s other main attractions.
