Putra Mosque

Putra Mosque is the principal mosque of the Malaysian federal administrative centre, Putrajaya, noted for its distinctive rose-tinted dome and lakeside siting. It serves as a major religious and civic landmark in the planned city.

The mosque combines Malay and Middle Eastern architectural elements and sits beside Putrajaya Lake, forming a focal point for photographs and civic ceremonies. Public access is generally allowed outside of formal prayer periods, with interpretive signage and areas for visitors to view the exterior and main courtyard.

The mosque was built as part of Putrajaya’s development as Malaysia’s planned administrative capital, constructed to serve the federal area’s religious needs and civic functions in the late 20th century. It has since become a key symbol of the new city’s urban design.

Putra Mosque is located in Putrajaya, the federal administrative district south of Kuala Lumpur, positioned on the lakefront near Putra Square and central government precincts.
