How to Get to Punata
Punata is a short road trip south of Cochabamba and is most easily reached via Cochabamba's Jorge Wilstermann Airport. Local minibuses and colectivos are the common and inexpensive options for the short transfer.
Jorge Wilstermann International Airport, Cochabamba (CBB): Cochabamba is the main air gateway for Punata and the central valleys. From Cochabamba city to Punata the road journey typically takes about 45-60 minutes by bus or taxi; minibuses (trufis) and colectivos are frequent and inexpensive (small Bolivianos fare).
El Alto / La Paz (LPB): If arriving via La Paz, a long road trip or domestic flight to Cochabamba will be required before the onward local road journey to Punata.
Train: There is no regular passenger rail service serving Punata; Bolivia’s rail passenger network is very limited in this region.
Bus / Minibus (Trufi): Minibuses and colectivos run from Cochabamba’s bus terminals to Punata frequently; the journey takes around 45-60 minutes and fares are low (single digits in bolivianos for local minibuses). Regular intercity buses also run on the Cochabamba-Punata corridor.
