Prohodna is a karst cave in Lovech Province, Bulgaria, notable for its large entrance arches and two prominent skylights in the roof that are widely known as the “God’s Eyes.” It is one of the country’s most visited natural cave features due to its dramatic openings and accessible interior.
The cave includes a long interior passage with two main portals that create a walk-through route connecting opposite sides of the hill. The twin skylights produce striking shafts of light that change with the sun and are especially popular with photographers and climbers.
The cave has been a natural landmark for the local karst area and is frequently used for recreational visits, short hikes, and organised outdoor activities. It lies within a broader karst landscape of sinkholes and gorges in Lovech Province.
Prohodna is situated near the village of Karlukovo, in northern-central Bulgaria, and is reachable by local roads from the surrounding towns and transport links.

How to Get to Prohodna #
From Sofia it’s roughly a 90-120 minute drive north along the E-79 and then local roads toward Karlukovo (about 120 km). There is a small carpark and a short marked path from the road to the cave entrance; the site is often visited as part of day tours from Sofia.
