This central Thai province is situated on the Kra Isthmus that connects the Malay Peninsula with the mainland. To east is the Gulf of Thailand and to the north the province borders with Myanmar. The province is famous for its many beaches that are scattered along the Gulf coast. Most popular are the beaches at Hua Hin, which are primarily favorites with Thai tourists.

The province provides tourists with a wide varied of attractions that go beyond the many beaches. Situated in the town of Hua Hin is the pleasant Butterfly Garden that features a variety of butterflies, birds, orchids and herbs. The province is also home to Khao Sam Roi National Park, established to protect the largest freshwater marshes in Thailand.

Prachuap Khiri Khan has a well established tourist infrastructure which is most developed around the Hua Hin area. The Gulf coast is dotted with hotels, resorts and restaurants that serve up the province’s famous seafood. Local and tourist transport links in the province are well developed, with the provision of tourist buses being slightly less during the rainy low season (July to October).
