Port Royal is immediately south of central Kingston and is most easily reached from Norman Manley International Airport (KIN) by a short taxi ride. Within Kingston, route taxis and local buses are the most common public transport options.
Norman Manley International Airport (KIN): Port Royal sits on the tip of the Palisadoes peninsula adjacent to Kingston; KIN is the closest airport (on the same peninsula). Taxi from KIN to Port Royal takes about 15-25 minutes; expect fares around JMD 1,500-3,000 (roughly USD 10-25) depending on negotiation and luggage.
Sangster International Airport (MBJ): Sangster (Montego Bay) is not practical for most Port Royal visitors - it is about 2.5-4 hours away by road, though private transfers and buses are available for cross-island travel.
Train: Jamaica has no modern passenger rail service for public intercity travel.
Bus / Route taxi: Kingston has a network of public buses and route taxis (shared minibuses) serving Port Royal from central Kingston. Single-ride fares within Kingston are low (often a few hundred JMD); route taxis are faster but you should check drivers’ destinations and negotiate fares if needed.
