Pochayiv Lavra

Pochayiv Lavra is a major Eastern Orthodox monastic complex in Pochayiv, Ternopil Oblast, and a principal pilgrimage centre in western Ukraine. The monastery complex includes several churches, a prominent bell tower and sacred relics that draw pilgrims year-round.

Visitors encounter Baroque and post-Baroque ecclesiastical architecture, monastic precincts and active liturgical life; the compound functions as a living monastery with facilities for pilgrims. The site is significant for religious observance, processions and icon veneration.

The monastery’s origins are ancient, with traditions tracing its foundation back many centuries and continuous monastic presence through medieval and modern periods.
