Plöckenstein (Czech: Plechý) is a mountain in the Bohemian Forest on the border between the Czech Republic and Austria and is the highest point on the Czech side of the range. The summit reaches 1,378 meters above sea level and is a well-known local high point.
The peak provides hiking routes and viewpoints over the surrounding forested plateau and is frequented by walkers following cross-border trails. Ridge and summit paths lead to marked viewpoints and to border markers on or near the summit.
The mountain is part of the glaciated and weathered highland of the Bohemian Forest and has long been a geographic landmark for local communities. Modern recreational use focuses on walking, cross-country skiing in winter and nature observation.
