Plaza de la Revolución is a large public square in the Vedado district of Havana, Cuba, and one of the city’s principal civic spaces used for state events. It is closely associated with the Cuban Revolution and national political life.
The square contains a central memorial complex dedicated to José Martí and is bordered by major government ministry buildings that display large political murals and portraits. The open paved area is designed to host mass rallies and official ceremonies and provides clear sightlines across the plaza.
The area was reconfigured after 1959 for large public assemblies and has been used by the Cuban government for political rallies and ceremonies since the 1960s. Over time it has become a symbol of national government activity and revolutionary commemoration.
Situated in the Vedado neighbourhood of Havana, the square lies northwest of Old Havana and is adjacent to several ministerial buildings and cultural institutions in the city centre.

How to Get to Plaza de la Revolución #
Plaza de la Revolución is in Havana’s Vedado district. From central Havana (Old Havana) it’s a 10-15 minute taxi ride across the city. Local buses and shared taxis (almendrones) also serve routes to Vedado; the plaza is adjacent to main thoroughfares such as Calle L and Calle 23.

- Stand near the José Martí memorial early in the morning to see locals exercising and to get unobstructed photos of the plaza's monumental axis.
- Allow time to admire the Che Guevara and Camilo Cienfuegos murals-best viewed in the softer afternoon light on the Ministry of the Interior building.
- Dress respectfully; Plaza de la Revolución is a working civic space used for large state ceremonies.
