Place de la Carrière is a large rectangular 18th-century square in Nancy, Grand Est, forming part of the planned civic ensemble with Place Stanislas and Place d’Alliance. It was designed as a formal parade ground and urban thoroughfare.
The square is notable for its long, regular façades and the plane-tree-lined central space that historically served ceremonial and equestrian purposes. It provides a broad axial view that complements the adjoining squares.
Established in the mid-1700s under Duke Stanisław Leszczyński and the work of Emmanuel Héré, the square was part of the same urban redesign that produced Place Stanislas. Its layout and façades date from that period.
It lies in Nancy’s historic centre, close to Place Stanislas in the Grand Est region of northeastern France.
