How to Get to Piriápolis#
Piriápolis is easiest to reach by road from Montevideo or via nearby Punta del Este airport (PDP). The town’s compact centre and beachfront make walking and short taxi rides practical for most visitors.
Capitán de Corbeta Carlos A. Curbelo International Airport (PDP): PDP (Punta del Este) is the closest airport; Piriápolis is about 30-45 minutes by car from PDP. Expect taxi fares roughly USD 30-50 and private transfers are available that take about 35-45 minutes.
Carrasco International Airport (MVD): Montevideo’s Carrasco is the main international airport. From Carrasco/Tres Cruces you can take an intercity bus to Piriápolis (about 1.5-2 hours); typical bus fares Montevideo → Piriápolis are around UYU 300-600 (≈USD 8-15).
Train: There is no regular passenger rail service serving Piriápolis; rail is not a practical travel option.
