Pinawa Dam Provincial Park

Pinawa Dam Provincial Park preserves the remains of an early 20th-century hydroelectric dam and generating structures on the Winnipeg River near the town of Pinawa in eastern Manitoba. The site is managed for its heritage value and outdoor recreation.

Visitors encounter exposed concrete ruins, interpretive panels and viewing platforms overlooking the river, plus short trails and picnic spots suitable for day use. Water-based activities such as canoeing and fishing are commonly done on the Winnipeg River in the immediate area.

The dam and generating works date from the early 1900s and were part of the area’s first hydroelectric development; the facility was later abandoned and the site conserved for its historical and recreational value. Interpretive installations explain the site’s industrial past.

The park sits directly adjacent to the town of Pinawa on the Winnipeg River, in eastern Manitoba. The site is accessed from Pinawa and functions as a local heritage and recreation area for residents and visitors to the region.
