Pierre-sur-Haute

Pierre-sur-Haute is a mountain summit in the Monts du Forez on the boundary between parts of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The summit is notable for a remote communications station located at its top.

Hikers who reach the summit encounter an enclosed communications compound and open summit ground with wide views across the Forez and surrounding uplands. Trails and forest roads lead to the area from multiple directions, and the summit serves as a local high point for walking and observation. The installation at the top is not open to the public.

The site has been used for telecommunications and relay purposes for several decades and the facility is managed as a secured technical installation. The mountaintop has also functioned as a local navigation and observation landmark for the surrounding rural communities.

Pierre-sur-Haute sits in the Monts du Forez region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, near the departmental boundary between Loire and Puy-de-Dôme, within reach of regional roads and forest tracks.
