Pierra Menta (mountain)

Pierra Menta is a prominent rocky massif in the Beaufortain range of the French Alps near Arêches-Beaufort, known for its steep, sculpted profile above the valley. The formation is a landmark for hikers, climbers and ski-mountaineers.

The massif offers steep ridge walks, scrambling and technical rock routes on its faces, with popular trails beginning from the nearby alpine villages. The area is also internationally known for the annual Pierra Menta ski-mountaineering event, which uses the surrounding terrain for multi-day team races. Scenic viewpoints on the surrounding trails provide clear views of the massif’s distinctive profile.
