How to Get to Phalaborwa

Phalaborwa is a gateway town on the western edge of Kruger National Park and is best reached by road from nearby regional airports (Hoedspruit Eastgate, Kruger Mpumalanga) or by private transfer. There is no direct passenger rail service into the town.

By Air

Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport (HDS): The closest airport for parts of the Kruger/Phalaborwa area with some regional scheduled flights. From HDS you can drive to Phalaborwa in about 1-1.5 hours depending on route; car rental or prebooked transfers are common.

Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (MQP): A busier regional airport near Nelspruit (Mbombela); road transfer to Phalaborwa takes about 2-3 hours by car. Rental cars and shuttle services are available at MQP for onward travel.
