Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park

Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park is a California state park located on the Big Sur coast, centered on a redwood-lined canyon and river corridor. The park protects coastal redwoods and mixed forest within the narrow Big Sur Valley.

Trails of varying lengths wind through the redwood canyon and up to ridgeline viewpoints; the park includes picnic areas, a family campground, and river access for wading and short walks. The setting is popular for day hikes, photography, and quiet forest walks rather than large-scale facilities.

The park originated from private land holdings in the Big Sur region that were later acquired by the state to create a protected area; its use has focused on recreation and forest conservation since establishment. Situated along Highway 1 in the Big Sur area of central California, the park lies adjacent to the small Big Sur settlement and is between the larger coastal towns to the north and south along the Pacific coastline.
