How to Get to Petzeck #
Petzeck is in Carinthia’s section of the Hohe Tauern. Access points include trailheads near Matrei in Osttirol or Kals, reached by regional roads and local buses. Mountain huts used for approaches are reached on foot from these trailheads.
Tips for Visiting Petzeck #
- Approach via the Kals-Matrei side for the most straightforward summer ascent routes.
- Check hut opening dates: alpine huts such as the Venerhütte provide staged routes and often close in late autumn.
- The peak requires glacier awareness on some routes - crampons and rope teams are necessary outside high summer and for north faces.
