Chipata Airport (CIP): Chipata is the closest scheduled airport serving Zambia’s Eastern Province; it’s the most practical flight option if you can connect via Lusaka or regional services. From Chipata to Petauke you must continue by road - shared minibuses (local kombis) and taxis run the route; expect roughly 2.5-4 hours on the road. Prices for a private taxi are typically in the range of USD 40-80; shared minibuses are much cheaper but variable (ask locally).
Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, Lusaka (LUN): Lusaka is the main international gateway for eastern Zambia. From Lusaka to Petauke the journey is by road: private transfer or intercity coach services run from Lusaka’s bus terminals to Petauke and take about 5.5-8 hours depending on stops and road conditions.
