Peninsula de Paria National Park protects large areas of the Paria Peninsula in northeastern Venezuela, including coastal, mangrove and inland forest habitats. The park conserves a mix of marine and terrestrial ecosystems characteristic of the peninsula.
Visitors encounter beaches, headlands and small coastal settlements along with forested slopes and interior montane habitats. The area is valued for biodiversity, birdlife and its relatively undeveloped coastal landscapes.
The area was set aside under Venezuela’s system of protected areas to conserve the peninsula’s coastal and forest ecosystems and to manage resource use along this section of the Gulf of Paria. Management aims to balance conservation with local livelihoods.
The park occupies the Paria Peninsula in northeastern Venezuela off the Gulf of Paria, principally within Sucre state and reachable from regional coastal towns.
