Pelee, Ontario

Pelee Island is a populated island in Lake Erie within Ontario, Canada. It is the largest island in Lake Erie and supports a small year-round community and seasonal visitors.

The island offers sandy shoreline, vineyards and small wineries, tranquil roads for cycling, and notable spring and fall bird migration sites that attract birdwatchers. Services are seasonal with peak visitor activity in summer and early autumn.

Indigenous peoples used the island for centuries prior to European contact. European settlement and agricultural use increased in the 19th century, and viticulture and tourism have been important parts of the local economy in more recent decades.

Sits in the western basin of Lake Erie, roughly 30 to 40 kilometres south of the Ontario mainland town of Leamington and southwest of the mainland point of Windsor-Buffalo corridor.
