Peggys Cove is a small fishing village on a granite headland in Nova Scotia, Canada, best known for its iconic lighthouse and sea-swept rock formations. The site is a widely visited coastal landmark and a frequent subject for photographers.

The village sits on exposed granite ledges and offers close views of waves, tide-swept rock and the lighthouse set on the point. The combination of the fishing community, rocky coastline and the lighthouse draws day visitors, especially in summer.

The current lighthouse at Peggy’s Point dates to the early 20th century and the area developed as a small working harbour and tourist spot. The hamlet is on the eastern shore of St. Margarets Bay, about 43 kilometres from Halifax.

  • Safety note: Coastal granite outcrops are regularly slippery and exposed to heavy surf - visitors are frequently warned to stay off wet rocks and to respect posted safety signs.
  • Distance from Halifax: Located roughly 43 kilometres southwest of downtown Halifax, it is commonly reached on a day trip from the city.
