Patvinsuo National Park

Patvinsuo National Park is a protected area in North Karelia, eastern Finland, established to conserve extensive peat bogs, mires and boreal forest habitat and to provide public nature access.

The area was designated as a national park to protect representative boreal mire ecosystems and to preserve habitat for migratory and resident bird species. Management emphasizes low-impact visitor infrastructure such as boardwalks and observation platforms.

Patvinsuo lies in eastern Finland within the North Karelia region surrounded by boreal forest and wetlands, reachable by regional roads from towns in the province.

• Trails and boardwalks: Wooden boardwalks allow visitors to traverse sensitive bog habitats without damaging the peatland surface, and several short circular routes are suitable for day visits.
