Paseo de Catalina de Ribera y Jardines de Murillo

The Paseo de Catalina de Ribera and the Jardines de Murillo form a promenade and adjoining public gardens in Seville’s historic centre, Andalusia. The gardens sit next to the walls of the Alcázar and border the Barrio Santa Cruz, providing a planted public space immediately beside key monuments.

The walk offers shaded pathways, lawns and benches used for short walks and for arranging access between the Alcázar, the Cathedral and nearby streets. The green space is compact and oriented to leisure and circulation within the old town rather than long-distance walking.

The gardens grew up adjacent to the Alcázar’s outer walls and have served as public promenades for centuries; they have been maintained and re-landscaped at various times to suit changing urban needs. The promenade bears the name of Catalina de Ribera, a historical figure associated with the site.

Geographically the paseo and gardens lie directly beside the Alcázar and the Barrio Santa Cruz, within a few minutes’ walk of Seville Cathedral in the centre of Seville.
