Parque Nacional de las Cavernas del Río Camuy is a national park in northwestern Puerto Rico that protects a large limestone cave system formed by the Río Camuy. The park preserves caverns, sinkholes and associated karst terrain and provides public access via a visitor complex.
The park features a visitor centre with interpretive exhibits and guided tours that lead into prepared show caves and along boardwalked trails. Significant sinkholes and vertical openings provide dramatic viewpoints into subterranean chambers, and trails lead to observation platforms over these features.
The cave passages were formed over long periods by natural karst processes as the Río Camuy dissolved limestone and created underground channels and chambers. The cave system and surrounding karst landscape have been managed as a protected area to conserve geological features and associated ecosystems.
The park lies in the karst region of northwestern Puerto Rico near the municipality of Camuy, inland from the island’s northern coast.
